Frequently asked questions
One credit is always worth €1 of voi services: a 299-credit study is a €299 study. What changes on the annual plan is not the value of a credit but its price. On a single study purchase you pay the standard rate of €1 per credit. On an annual plan you pay less per credit, up to 20% off depending on how many credits your plan includes.
voi runs on credits. When you launch a study you choose one of three tiers, Starter, Growth, or Pro, covering 50, 150, and 300 respondents respectively. Each tier has a fixed cost that voi deducts from your balance at launch, and you're never charged for respondents within that number. The tiers also differ in what the study can do: Growth and Pro add Explore, which lets you ask questions of your data in plain language, and Pro adds a data quality and integrity audit. Choosing a tier is therefore about both how many people you reach and which features you want.
Each study runs to the respondent limit you set. If you want more responses, you raise the limit and pay for the additional respondents upfront, either while you're planning the study or later while it's running. That's the only way capacity changes, so a study never charges you beyond what you've already paid for. The price per extra respondent varies depending on the tier you chose: Starter charges 4 Credits, Growth charges 3 Credits, and Pro charges 2 Credits per extra respondent.
A single study is a one-time purchase. You buy the credits you need at the standard rate, and they remain valid for 12 months. An annual plan commits you to a set number of credits each year at a lower rate, and renews automatically at the same size unless you change it. You can raise or cancel a plan at any time. Credits from either route sit in one balance and are spent the same way.
An annual plan lowers your cost per credit, so it pays off in two situations. The first is running several studies a year, where one plan covers all of them at the better rate. The second is funding studies for others. For example, a fund, foundation, or accelerator can run studies across its portfolio from a single account, or grant studies to partners and grantees who run them in their own workspaces. Either way, you still see the results and keep the data for your own reporting. If you expect more than one study a year, or you fund studies for other organisations, choose a plan.
Credits are valid for 12 months. Each new top-up gets its own fresh 12 months, so buying more doesn't shorten or extend credits you already hold, each batch simply keeps its own expiry. Annual plan credits stay valid 12 months and renew with the plan. If you increase your commitment partway through a plan upgrade, the extra credits count toward a larger volume discount, but they expire at the end of the current 12 month period rather than starting a new 12 month period. voi reminds you as any credits approach their expiry date, typically 60 and 30 days ahead, so nothing lapses without warning.
Prices are shown net, and VAT is added at checkout according to your country and status.
You can design a study before spending anything. voi lets you create up to five draft study designs, and no credits are touched until you activate a study by sharing it with respondents. That means you can shape the questions, review the interview guide, and decide it's right before any credit is spent. Once a study is activated its credits are spent and are not refundable. So at the point of activating a survey is where you need to be sure. Full terms are in our General Terms and Conditions.
voi keeps billing and research separate. A billing account holds your credits and can be used to fund a single, or multiple workspaces. A workspace is where studies are actually run. That separation is what allows a single billing account to pay for studies across multiple workspaces. A funder, foundation, or accelerator can support several teams from one account, while each team works in its own space. Within a billing account, users have full control: buy credits, manage the plan, edit billing details, fund other workspaces, and add or remove billing members. Workspace members that do not have their own billing account can see who is paying for their workspace, but have no purchasing controls of their own.
